The nominations for the 98th Academy Awards will be revealed during a live stream on Thursday, which is sure to cause some conversation.While critics seem to agree on some points, as this month's Golden Globes — and last year's Oscars — demonstrated, there's always room for surprises.

How do I check?

Actors Daniel Brooks and Lewis Pullman will announce nominees in all 24 categories, including the New Actor Award, in a live broadcast from the Academy's Samuel Goldwyn Theater.The screening will begin at 5:30 p.m., and viewers can watch live on the Academy's website and social media platforms or on ABC's "Good Morning America."It will also air on "ABC News Live," Disney+ and Hulu.American Sign Language will be available on YouTube.Nine categories will be revealed at 5:30 am, and the remaining 15 will be revealed after a short break at 5:41 pm.

Brooks was nominated for an Oscar for her role in The Color Purple (2024), and Pullman starred in Top Gun: Maverick, which won an Oscar for sound in 2023. He also starred with Amanda Seyfried in The Promise of Ann Lee, another contender for an award this season.

As the casting Oscars make their debut in 2026, we asked six top casting directors to explain what their work in casting is and how it shaped some of the best films of the year.

When are the Oscars?

The 98th Academy Awards will be held March 15 at Ovation Hollywood's Dolby Theater and will be broadcast live on ABC with streaming available on Hulu.The show starts at 4 o'clock.Pacific.

Who hosts the awards?

Conan O'Brien returns as host after his knockout performance in 2025, which helped the show attract its biggest audience in five years.

Other top contenders include Chloe Zhao's "Hamnet," which won the Golden Globe for best drama, Joachim Trier's "Sentimental Value" and Josh Safdie's "Marty Supreme."Also, after "The Secret Agent" won two Globes, the Brazilian political thriller has its sights set on the next Oscar.

As for individual categories, "Hamnet's" Jessie Buckley is a safe bet for actress, and Timothée Chalamet and Leonardo DiCaprio are snubbed for their roles in "Marty Supreme" and "One Battle."Chalamet beat DiCaprio to win the Golden Globe on Sunday.
