Togo: INSEED focuses on disability statistics

The National Institute of Statistics and Economic and Demographic Studies (INSEED) opened a 2-day training workshop in Lomé on Friday. Disability statistics. The meeting brings together the executives of the National Statistical Institutes of the member countries of the Brazzaville Group. It is part of the production and dissemination of disability statistics for better care of the disabled.

This workshop has a dual purpose. Develop a list of methods for measuring disability in censuses and surveys in Member States and agree on measures related to their development. Train statisticians/demographers of National Statistics Institutes in data collection on various types of disability and data analysis and interpretation of results using SPSS and STATA programs.

“This exercise is the first in years on disability statistics of the Group in Pressa, since its creation… To achieve the objectives assigned to the group, we must ensure that our statistical institutions are integrated in the collection of data related to the disability component. For the well-being of the population,” said Tchiou Animau, Secretary General of Inseed.
