LThis fact is documented by all international rankings: the French have a mediocre knowledge of science and their position is constantly declining. Released at the end of 2020, 2019 Results of the TIMSS Survey (International Reference Assessment in Mathematics and Science) Cause for panic: French middle school students in year four scored, on average, the worst scores of EU and OECD countries (except Chile), a decline confirmed in all national surveys since 2008, and including “advantaged” students. Affecting all layers of society … How, weighed against such disadvantages, can young people understand the challenges posed by the climate crisis and respond tomorrow to the social choices it implies?
