A quantum Internet – which should not see the light of day for ten years – is a large-scale network that connects users with new applications and is “unattainable through the classic web,” explains AFP Ronald Johnson of the University of Delft (Netherlands), co-author of the book published in the journal Natural.

Communication does not take the form of classic bits – 0s and 1s at the base of computing – but quantum bits (kubits).

These quits use the laws of quantum physics, which govern the world on an infinitely small scale. One of these properties, also called complexity, is a strange phenomenon in which two trapped particles act identically regardless of the distance they are separated: they share the same position as if they were connected by an invisible thread.

Alice, Bob and Charlie
