The province of Cà Mau on Friday, January 15, launched a project for the Ecological Surveillance System for aquaculture wetlands, which put more than A $ 500,000 (approximately US $ 500,000) within the framework of grants for the “Aus4Innovation” invention.

Developed by the University of Queensland and Tang Chan (Greenfield Consulting and Development Company Limited – GFT), the 15-month project will enable Cà Mau to establish an ecological monitoring system for aquaculture wetlands. It will provide information on mangrove forest management and sustainable aquaculture, improve livelihoods and contribute to climate change recovery in coastal communities.
The University of Queensland and the GFT Institute are key partners in the implementation of this project. The Department of Agriculture and Rural Development of Cà Mau, the beneficiary of the project, is responsible for appointing and maintaining an environmental monitoring system to provide accurate information on the planting of wetlands linked to aquaculture development.
Its director, Catherine Lovelock, said the project would help mitigate the negative effects of climate change on coastal communities and the sustainable development of the Mekong Delta.
According to Chong Mong, Deputy Director of Agriculture and Rural Development at Cà Mau, the project responds to local needs to help people cultivate swamps while growing aquaculture.
